Praia da Luz has several small supermarkets and a variety of other shops and boutiques. There are numerous bars and restaurants which range from beach bars, through bistros and cafes to sumptuous restaurants. Luz has a chemist, doctor, banks and post office etc. There is one small disco on the sea-front.

The beach in Praia da Luz is sandy and approximately 1km long and backed by a promenade.At the eastern end at low tide there are lovely rock pools and at the western end there are large areas of flat rock for those who like to lie or sit by the sea, but avoid the sand! The sea here tends to be fairly calm with only small waves and the beach is ideal for children.

The apartment itself is approximately 5 minutes walk back from the beach and most of the bars and restaurants. You can walk from the apartment to a supermarket in about 2 minutes. For those who know Praia da Luz the apartment is located at the Lagos end of the Rua Direita, the cobbled road that runs parallel to the beach, about 200m inland.Apartamento Azul  is very centrally located and the walk to the beach, shops and restaurants and bars is short. As such it is not essential to have a car for your holiday here, although car hire will obviously give more scope for visits to other local attractions.
 

The lovely, bustling town of Lagos with its lively town centre and many restaurants and shops is only 10 minutes drive from Praia da Luz.There is an old walled town centre and a pedestrianised area which is lovely place for an evening stroll with street entertainers and stalls. Lagos also has a very pretty marina and several beaches. On the outskirts of the town are several large supermarkets, two within 10 minutes drive from the apartment..

The historic nautical town of Sagres and Cape St Vincent, the most South Westerly point in Europe, are 25 minutes drive away. There are spectacular beaches along the West coast with several less than a 40 minute drive away. These beaches are wide and long with large breakers and several run surfing and body-boarding schools.

Alternatively heading East along the coast there are many other attractions, two water slide parks (20 and 30 mins drive), a marine park (40 mins), large shopping mall (40 mins).

The ancient capital of Silves is about 25 minutes drive away and has a castle and an old cork factory which has been converted into a museum and entertainment centre. In the summer they often run shows and entertainments here.

The lovely spa town of Monchique is a 45 minute drive inland in the beautiful Monchique mountains and on a clear day there are spectacular views to the coast.

There are several places to arrange horse riding, deep sea fishing,dolphin watching boat trips etc.

Apartamento Azul has loads of storage space for golf clubs etc and is a great base for a golfing party to stay. The large lockable garage will easily hold clubs or they can be brought up to the apartment itself where there is ample space to keep them if preferred.
